Mal, Don and Mick backstage in Bilston

Posted by Picasa

I’m exhausted!

Last week I went to Wolverhampton to interview a string of people for Don’s biography. It was a bit of an exhausting trip! In 5 days I managed to speak to Don’s sister Carol, and to John Howells and Mick Marson who used to be the singer and the guitarist in The Vendors and The ’N Betweens and then also to Carole Williams, the Astra-secretary who used to run their first fan club and finally Vicky Pearson, her cousin who used to cut the guys’ hair. Great interviews, especially the one with Don’s sister.
While in England I also managed to go to Birmingham to see Noddy Holder being presented with his star on Birmingham’s ”Walk of Stars”, I caught the Kex Gorin benefit-concert with Magnum in Bilston and I went with Don to the Slade concert in Bilston, too. Great fun!
Finally I had my back checked and it seems that my disease has developed to include the upper part of my spine as well. Not that it surprised me. I’m in so much pain all the time.
Since I got back I’ve been suffering from a dreadful cold. It was much colder in England than in Denmark and as it is usually the other way around I was totally unprepared. Hopefully it’ll go away before Christmas!

Biography

Last week I went to Don’s place in Silkeborg for us to work a bit on his biography. Furthermore I took quite a few good pics of him shooting pool as he has finally had his pool table moved from England to his home in Denmark. Above you can also see a photo, which we made with a timer – notice the beautiful gramophone!

Oliver T. – again

The last day of the Danish fall holidays Tea and I went to the town of Herning to see the last show of ”Oliver T.” on October 19. We went and as expected it was a fantastic experience.
I don’t know why, but this evening cast and band outdid themselves. Maybe because it was the last night. Maybe because the audience was brilliant. Or maybe because the original singer Flemming Bang was back, substituting for Allan Mortensen. No matter what, this was “Oliver T.” at its best. It was no longer an ordinary musical but the beautiful bastard child of a political play mated with a rock concert.
After the show Tea and I spent some delightful hours at the afterparty in the company of Don, Hanne, the English friends and all the actors, musicians and staff from the theatre. At 1.30 a.m. we finally said our goodbyes and Tea and I were sure glad that we only had to walk a few steps to get to our hotel! But what a great night we had had. As Tea said, “This was the best night out ever!”

Slade in Denmark

On the 5. and the 6. of October Slade gave 2 concerts in Denmark. On the 5th Tea went with me to the concert in Vejle and we had a fantastic time. We hung out with Don before the concert, the concert itself was great and I managed to say hello to Mark a New Zealand fan, whom I've met in England.
On the 6th I went on my own to Skoerping for the second concert. That was good as well and I spent a little time with the band afterwards. As always a lovely time.

Don in "Oliver T."

Oliver T.

Last week I went to the Danish town Herning to see the musical ”Oliver T.” featuring Don. I had a nice time, my first night out in almost 2 months. The musical was fantastic and as always it was nice being in the company of Don and Hanne. I really needed that as my life these days seems to consist of work tests, meeting, long telephone conversations etc. etc. all because of my disease and the long process of applying for invalidity pension. Sometimes it feels like a never-ending story.

Rocky

Summer, week 4

I went over to Don and Hanne in Silkeborg this week. We had a lovely time and we got some good work done on the biography. Oh, but Don’s dog Rocky has grown so big! It’s not even a year old, yet, so it is still growing. And when we took it to the Silkeborg Lakes it was clear that Rocky loves water as much as Tea does!

A visit from Don

Monday Don came over to visit me as we were to do some promotion for Flame as well as some Q&A for the www.slayed.co.uk forum. We also had to do some new pics and that had us running in and out of the house to avoid showers! Well, we managed to do some decent ones by Odense river.

Peter Pan documentary

In early 2006 started the production of a Peter Pan-documentary based on my Ph.D.-thesis (1991) and book (1998) about Peter Pan and his creator, the Scotch writer Sir J.M. Barrie. The documentary is produced and directed by Michael Hansen Caleb in collaboration with Angel Productions. Further information here. I appear in the documentary myself, so do Andrew Birkin and Geraldine McCaughrean among others. The narrator is Julie Christie.

Slade in Silkeborg

Last weekend Tea and I spent in Silkeborg where Slade was giving a concert. It was a fantastic, but exhausting experience. I don’t know how much longer I can keep it up. Anyway, we had a great time, enjoying the really hot weather here in Denmark at the moment, hanging out with Don and Hanne, chatting to friends and fans and attending the concert, which was very good. To Tea the best thing was, however, that she finally met Don’s dog Rocky!

New homepage

After having made the My Space-site, I decided that it was about time that I updated my homepage. It has looked the same for 6 years, so it really needed a haul over. Now the new page is finished, it covers the same territory as the old one and then it has some new features as well. Check it out at: www.liselyngfalkenberg.com

Slade concerts

Two weekends in a row I went to Slade-concerts. The first one was in the town of Aalborg on February 4th. It was a great, intimate concert at a small venue and everybody had such a great time. February 4th was also my 2 years anniversary with the new incarnation of Slade and Hanne and Don had brought me a promo T-shirt of the original line-up. Thank you so much, guys!
The weekend after I then went to the town of Aarhus on February 10th. Here the concert took place in a huge sports arena and although the concert itself was smashing everything else was a big chaotic. Nice afterparty, though!
I must admit that going out two weekends in a row was very hard on my back and I guess that in the future I’m not going to concerts so close to each other. Better have a month or two in between!

Bibble finished

Yesterday I went over to Don’s and finally we managed to finish his book for children, ”Bibble Brick”. Don wrote it 40 years ago, so it was about time!
As I said to him, he should have told me that he’d written a children’s book when I met the original Slade for the first (and only!) time in 1978. Then we could have finished it 30 years ago. But better late than never, I guess!
Above you’ll se a pic of Don with Rocky who’s grown really big within the past 3 months! I made the shot of the 2 of them in Don’s garden yesterday.
